
I have been tweaking and making this recipe so many time throughout the years. It never fails to make my boys smile every time they see these. On his Kindergarten's "About Me" page, Max even put this as his favorite food.

Indonesian Siu Mai or Siomay Bandung
Yield: enough for 8 people
Indonesian Siumai is a meal in itself to be eaten with peanut sauce
ingredients:
- 1 cup fish paste
- 1 cup ground chicken or pork
- 1 cup shrimp - chopped and peeled
- 100 gr Tapioca flour
- 1 carrot, shredded (optional to put on top)
- 2 green onion
- 1 egg
- 1 tablespoon fish sauce or 1 teaspoon mushroom seasoning
- 1 Tb sesame oil
- 2 teaspoon salt
- ½ teaspoon white pepper
- 1 Tb oyster sauce
- 3 cloves of garlic - minced
- a package of round wonton skin
side dishes
- 2 potatoes, sliced into 1-inch cubes
- 1 package of tofu, sliced into 1-inch cubes
- Cabbage or bokchoy, peeled as a side dish
peanut sauce
- You can use any Indonesian instant peanut sauce like this one or this one, boiled with a cup of water.
- Add to the sauce 1 lime juice & sweet soy sauce as preferred

How to cook Indonesian Siu Mai or Siomay Bandung
- Mix together all of the above ingredients inside a large mixing bowl, except the shredded carrots, side dishes, and sauce
- Place about one tablespoon of the mixed ingredient on the center of wonton skin then fold the sides together. Add the shredded carrot on top.
- Steam the siu mai and side dishes until cooked for about 10 minutes.
- Eat with the peanut sauce on top
