What I buy at Costco

Saturday, March 12, 2016

Who doesn't love Costco? We have to pay yearly membership to shop there but it's definitely worth it for us considering how much we save by buying there. Besides food, we also buy: gas, batteries, tires, laundry detergents, pajamas, undies, insurance, organic soil and other things we need because Costco usually offers good quality products at the lowest price.

My Grocery Shopping List at Costco:

Produce: I usually buy my organic produce at Farmer Market or Trader Joe's because Costco's portion is too big for our family. The food often spoiled before we got chance to finish them. Plus, Farmer Market usually got better quality.  However, when they have organic berries and mandarin orange; I usually buy them because we like to have the oranges as snack and we can use berries for many different things.

Meats: organic chicken, beef: short ribs, and bacon

Seafood: salmon, shrimp, and cod (sometimes)

Butter and eggs

Why we love Trader Joe's and what we buy there

Wednesday, September 2, 2015

If you read my post on What I buy at Whole Foods; you probably knew I am not a big Whole Foods fan. I know it carries great organic stuffs and many people love it but my frugal self prefer our local Farmer Market and Trader Joe's instead.

I fell in love with Trader Joe's upon learning that they give lots of their unsold products to local charities. In addition, Trader Joe's keeps its price low that the store never offers weekly specials or sales on its products, which is great for a non-coupon-lover-who-like-to-go-grocery-shopping-when-I-want-to-not-on-the-store-sales-day-shopper like me. Buzz Feed article on Trader Joe's gave further information if you like to learn more about it.

What we buy there:
Banana - We use it for smoothies, pancake, muffin, or eat it as is for snacks. We have one banana lover in the house that would eat bananas for breakfast, lunch, and dinner if we let him.

Fruits and Vegetables. My first pick would be our local Farmer Market but I often couldn't make it during the times it opens so Trader Joe's is my second choice to get fresh produce:
