Homemade French Bread
I know French Bread only cost $1 something but the time it takes to get two kids ready and go to the store will probably take me longer than making it myself. Plus, watching the bread maker kneads the dough is pretty entertaining for my kids:

Didi is now 4 and he will show us all how to shape the french bread:

Ingredients:
1 cup warm water
1 package (2 1/4 teaspoons) active dry yeast
2 cups all-purpose flour + more for dusting
1/2 cup bread flour
1 TBS white sugar
1 tsp salt
*optional: sprinkle of garlic powder, oregano, and thyme as prefer

Direction:
Place all of the ingredients in bread machine, in the order listed.
Set on dough cycle.
When cycle is done, keep the dough inside the bread maker for 1 hour or until it doubled in size.
Once risen, punch the dough down, divide the dough in half.
On a lightly floured surface roll, roll one dough with rolling pin into about 8x12 inches rectangles.
Roll up each half tightly, long wise. Pinch to seal the end. Do the same to the other dough.
Place loaves on a greased cookie sheet or cookie sheet covered with parchment paper.
Cover and let it rise in a warm place about 1 hour or until doubled.
Preheat oven to 400 degree Fahrenheit.
Make deep diagonal slashes every 2 inches.
Bake at 400 for 20 minutes or until golden brown.
Enjoy.

I made French Toast, Bruschetta,

then eat them with salad and balsamic vinaigrette.

  So good!
