Korean Spicy Tofu Recipe

Every time our family go out to our favorite Korean restaurant, the owner often serve this as one of their free side dishes. We all love it and often ask for second. So glad that I finally know how to make it at home so we can make it often.


The ingredients mostly can be found at Asian / Korean Supermarket:

First thing first: cut the tofu into bite size portion. Heat the nonstick pan then add the oil. Once the oil is hot, add the tofu.
Fry one side until brown then flip the tofu and fry the other side until brown. In the meantime mix all the ingredients for the sauce in a bowl.
Once both sides of the tofu are browned, add the sauce, and cook a few more seconds
Place the tofu dish on a plate, then sprinkle the cut green onion on the top

Enjoy!

Korean Spicy Tofu Dish

Spicy, sweet, and savory tofu dish
Prep time: 10 MCook time: 10 MTotal time: 20 M

Ingredients:

  • 1 box of firm tofu - cut into bite size
  • 2 green onions - cut into small slices
  • oil , about 1-2 tablespoons for stir frying
Sauce ingredients:
  • 1 tablespoon minced garlic
  • 3 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 4 tablespoons water
  • 1 tablespoon red pepper powder
  • 1 tablespoon Korean cooking syrup or regular sugar
  • 1 teaspoon sesame oil
  • 1 teaspoon sesame seeds

Instructions:

  1. Heat the nonstick pan, add the oil
  2. Once the oil is hot, add the tofu
  3. Stir fry until one side is brown,
  4. In the meantime, mix all the sauce ingredients in one bowl
  5. Flip the tofu to the other side.
  6. Cook until the other side is brown as well
  7. Add the sauce, cook for a few more seconds
  8. Move the tofu dish to a plate, add the green onion on top. Enjoy!
